Officer Mike Dana

28 year veteran of the Dallas Police Department

Officer Mike Dana’s presentation will cover various frauds and scams that all U.S. consumers fall victim to every year.  He will share with us actual cases and news stories covering these topics.  Areas he will focus on will include check forgery, credit card fraud, identity theft, phone scams, wire fraud and financial exploitation of the elderly. He will also help us identify home repair scams, lottery scams, sweet heart swindles, mail theft and email scams.

Officer Mike was assigned to the financial crime unit as a detective for eight years and has investigated all of the above crimes.  He has attained his master peace office certification along with state instructor certification.  He has been active in consumer rights affairs regarding fraud and testified in the Texas legislature in 2008 on an identity theft related bill.

Officer Mike is a certified toastmaster and has done numerous fraud related presentations for law enforcement and community groups.
