Improve your quality of life with tips from Master Wellness Volunteer, Linda Hampton!   Linda is a retired retail business owner and community volunteer who is active in a number of programs to educate and improve the lives of Collin County residents.  She became a Master Naturalist in 2009, and after receiving in-depth training, now provides services in the form of community education on wildlife, natural resource management, and conservation efforts.

She became a Master Wellness Volunteer in both Collin and Dallas Counties in 2011 for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s outreach and education program for Family & Community Health.  Master Wellness Volunteers work in areas related to health, nutrition, food safety, and family well-being in the communities where they live and work.  They provide training in nutrition and health education, attend health fairs, and speak to groups about individually controllable wellness factors.

Volunteers receive 40 hours of education related to health, nutrition, food safety, healthy food preparation, and public speaking. In 2021, Master Wellness Volunteers provided 4,596 hours of service reaching 21,190 Texans.

We know that physical activity offers benefits for all ages, including those older adults with chronic diseases. A prior study stated that 92% of people over 65 have at least one chronic disease such as hypertension, diabetes, or arthritis which may be controllable through a holistic, whole person approach to health focused on their underlying risk factors.

In her presentation, Linda will discuss how exercise and your everyday activities can work together to control and/or reduce risk factors, with a focus on muscle strength and aerobic activities.  (Don't be concerned, aerobic means "with air".)

Come join us and be counted among those who have chosen to make physical activity a long-term healthy habit.

Let's start today!
